                   Subterranean Termites

Subterranean termites are social insects which live in colonies just as Carpenter ants do. The
difference between them are that subterranean termites live in the soil and build dirt tunnels to get
to the wooden structures and Carpenter ants build their colony network in the wooden structures.
As they both damage/destroy wooden structures many confuse carpenter ants with termites.

Subterranean termite colonies are divided into 3 forms or groups which are, The workers, The
Soldiers & the reproductives. (see images of each below)

                         
Detection of Termite Activity  

It is important for homeowners to be able to recognize the signs of subterranean termite activity
and/or infestation. Subterranean termites can be detected by a sudden swarm of what looks like
winged ants called the swarmer and/or by the presence of mud tubes up against the foundation to
reach the wooden structure and wood damage. Example of Termite damage below

Eagle Pest Control, Inc specializes in Termite prevention (pre-treatments to soil
during construction of structures) and Termite extermination (partial & spot
treatments to existing structures)using only products that are approved by The
Structural Pest Control Board of Texas and issue warranties with all
pre-treatments (new constructions). Warranties are issued with full termite
treatment for existing structures, but partial and spot treatments only have a 30
day warranty on the exact location that was treated, although it is possible to
purchase a warranty on the whole structure. WDI Report (Wood Destroying Insect
Report) or sometimes refered to as a clearance letter is provided with all termite
treatments including label of product used to treat the termites. Termite
inspections have a cost only when the property inspected is being sold or
purchased as they require a full report (WDI) for closing purposes. Home owners
with no intention of selling their home and do not require a full report (WDI) there
is no charge. Should termite activity be found a written quote of cost, chemical to
be used and label of chemical to be used is provided without charge to all
inspected properties.
